About

Sherrie “Voxxy” Johnson is an accomplished vocalist and songwriter with over 20 years of experience honing her craft. Born into a family of musicians, she started singing in church as a child and began writing poetry in her teens. In her early twenties, Voxxy would perform her poetry as
a capella songs at open mics, searching for bandmates to collaborate with. After joining a couple of garage bands that never took off, Voxxy started recording and sharing her rough demos online, catching the attention of a music agent who introduced her to A&R reps at Hollywood records. This experience provided valuable lessons, and soon after, Voxxy moved to the Seattle area. In addition to her music career, Voxxy was the co-host of the award-winning podcast The Northwest Convergence Zone, which showcased local music and band interviews for 5 years. This experience allowed her to connect with musicians and gain a better understanding of the local music scene. In 2010 she also co-founded the Tacoma
artist's cooperative, The Speakeasy, which
hosted art, music, and live events in Tacoma.
Voxxy is most recognized for her Janis Joplin
tribute act, Janis Lives, which has performed
across the US, Canada, and recently on
The Flower Power Cruise to The British Virgin
Islands. She has also released music with her
bands Voxxy Vallejo, Devil On A Leash,
Polly Slanderous, and collaborated with
hip-hop artist Mr. Von.
Currently, Voxxy is working on her first
original solo release, taking full creative
control of the project. With her extensive
experience and passion for music, Voxxy
continues to push the boundaries and evolve
as an artist.
